CCTV, Access Control Security Systems – Surfers Paradise Boulevard, Surfers Paradise

Our latest security system installation took us into the heart of Gold Coast tourist and holiday maker territory to a fabulous medium high rise 4-star hotel in the heart of Surfers Paradise needing a very high quality CCTV system and an automatic access control system.

Background – The hotel had 2 long-time security “must haves”; high quality digital CCTV and automatic access control to increase monitoring and security capability in both public and staff access areas. The existing access control system was keeping keys, meaning staff had to either

  1. Have a key
  2. Go through a cumbersome sign in process for key access
  3. Leave secure areas unlocked and potentially compromise hotel security

AAVINET’s Installation – The hotel’s needs for surveillance and access control were assessed and solutions finalised. We had 12 levels of concrete to drill and cable through but this is all part of our high rise expectations and job roles.

CCTV – To obtain optimal picture quality and efficient camera positioning we used 10 HIKVISION super high definition 4 megapixel IP digital cameras.  The quality, once again, far exceeded our customer’s expectations.

Access Control – The vital security areas were identified and an Inner Range ‘Inception’ automatic access control system was a perfect solution for the 8-10 access controlled doors.  The cumbersome key process is no longer required.

AAVINET’s Challenge – Late in the installation the contracted lift maintenance company’s cabling quote caused a cost major blowout.  CCTV in the lift potentially became a show stopper.

Andrew went into overdrive to find a technical and cost effective solution to bypass the external contracted lift maintenance company.  Drawing on his long time and extensive technical and network experience Andrew did find an innovative solution.  Using existing shielded twisted pair cable, Andrew created a dual conversion process to work successfully as a digital solution in the lifts.  Andrew’s cost was a fraction of the external company’s quote to run new digital Ethernet cable and our relieved customer happily gave the CCTV installation in the lifts the green light to go ahead.

The Access control system’s automatic logging integrated with CCTV monitoring is the perfect combination to control personnel and visitor access and protect data and assets in the hotel.
